June 2018

Dear Players and Parents:

We are pleased to announce the AWJGBC tryouts for the 2019 season. As in previous years, we will not be accepting players from outside the Anthony Wayne Area School District.

All players that want to be considered for a team must attend at least one tryout so they can be evaluated. Each age division will have two tryout sessions. Please note, it is the age your son is on April 30th, 2019 that decides which team he should tryout for. For example, if your son is 13 on April 30th, 2019, he should tryout for the U-13 Team. One other consideration is your son’s grade. For example, if your son is in 7th grade in the 2018-2019 school year, you should consider having him try out for the U-13 team, even though he might be able to play U-12 from an age standpoint. You want to try and play with your grade if you can.

All tryouts will be held at Bluecreek Fields on the corner of Providence Street and Stiles Road in Whitehouse, Ohio.

Note: Each team reserves the right to hold additional tryouts.

Each player must register on the AWYF Website.  All players will be evaluated by using the same rating system.  There is no guarantee that a player who was on one of the AWJGBC teams in 2018 will make the 2019 AWJGBC team for next season.  Once the tryouts are completed, coaches will select the players.  Please note, depending on interest and skill, if we have enough players at a certain age level we may have two teams.

The player fees for 2019 is  $650 for baseball and softball fee will vary based on tournaments and league games. Fees will be due in two equal payments on September 30,2018 and the second payment will be due at the uniform fitting which is typical early January 2019. Players will not be allowed to participate in the winter practices until the fee is paid.  Each baseball team will play approximately 20-40 games which will include 3-5 tournaments depending on age group. Each softball team will play 20-25 games which include tournaments. Winter practice typical start in late January but subject to Coach discretionary. We do encourage all players to play other sports and their winter sports is priority over baseball/softball. We do ask that each player is fully committed to baseball/softball by March 1 since the season starts early April..
